Civically Engaged ~ Without All the Rage

As someone who doesn’t take the local paper or have live TV, I find that I’m a little happier these days. I don’t have first hand accounts of the violence going on in our nation, and I don’t subscribe to the rants that seem to be overly negative about our country at the present time.

There seems to be a pervasive feeling that everything Trump is bad. Everything Republican is bad. Everything Democratic must then be good? I don’t buy it.

I don’t have an attitude of injustice nor do I play the blame game. Our country is made up of both people who make both good and bad decisions, and those making bad decisions publicly seem to monopolize the spotlight and become the targets for all people who have ever affiliated with them or their beliefs; regardless of the truth.

I’m taking a community course about Civic Engagement through Weber State University. Last night was the first session, and for an hour we week we learn about how our government works; not just nationally, but also at the state level, the local level and the county level. We will get to know who we go to if we have questions, concerns, and/or want to share our ideas and hopes for our own communities.

By becoming more engaged in my own community, I hope to at least be an example of someone who cares about doing the right thing and taking a stand on the issues that concern me, without all the rage and blaming that have been flooding our country through protests turning to violence.

Become engaged in a positive way. Remember, knowledge is power.

Find a way to contribute through good works, good words, and good leadership. I challenge you to become more civically engaged in a positive way!

Daily Habits – Motivation to Begin

It can be difficult to develop new habits.
Wanting to change your life in positive ways or wanting to find a way to add flavor to your life can be rewarding.
It can also be scary.
A new habit is one that takes time to develop, to build. The need to see it through and want nothing more than to have it become a part of who you are is not an easy thing to do.

I have good habits and bad habits.
Some of the bad habits are the easiest to enjoy; like eating chocolate before a healthy meal or like staying up all night to read a book you just can’t put down!
It’s 2021; a year of hope and change. Especially after the decidedly strange year of 2020, I believe a change is in order.

I am motivated to make changes that will inspire me this year, and the first change is to write, blog, journal, post, or speak about what is important to me.

Daily habits that motivative you and those you love.

Baffled..

Sometimes things seem to be going along just fine..and then all of a sudden – you are left baffled.

I can’t quite put my finger on it; maybe I insert too much in my personal discussion about tying myself in a relationship. Did that even make sense? When you want to be with someone, at least for me, you try to find common ground where you both can do things together. When you talk about your children – I want to meet them. When I hear about what you are doing for the day, I want to be right there by your side enjoying your company. When you have a bad day or you feel down and/or depressed, I want to give you a hug and hold you closely to me. 

Maybe you mean what you say – very casually and not towards me. But how am I to know that? Actually, I’m not sure if you were meaning what you said to me or not. That’s why I’m baffled. 

Time marches on..

There is something to be said for those who wait patiently for love to happen..
They aren’t standing idly by doing nothing, but often the opportunities are in someone else’s hands.
Meeting someone you find interesting or intriguing is only the first step. You must then pursue with interest
what it is you like most about them and see if it matches up with what you want in a relationship.
Often the person you are talking with is also talking to others..and you both are narrowing down the
playing field like checking off statistics to a favorite team.

When you find someone in particular that piques your curiosity – and a connection happens –
that in no wise means they feel the same thing.
You aim for a date; hoping that the two of you can connect.
If they live close, you take a chance on making it work;
If they live out of state or further away, you have to find a way to entice them to meet with you…
that the risk would be worth it. After all, time is marching on.

The beauty they see in your picture might be enough to spark the conversation;
but what will urge them to want more with you? What will insight them to action?
As time plays the number game with you both – pretty soon the days become weeks and then before you know it
a month or more has passed.
If you could choose him..would he choose you? What is it that says you both fit? And still, time continues…to march on.
You finally make your decision; there are more ways than one to get him interested.

However, it’s still his choice! Ball is in his court! You can’t make someone love you
or want to get to know you if they aren’t ready!
So, as time marches on – you must continue to be the type of woman he would want to be with – and hopefully
He will choose you when it counts. If he’s truly the one you’re meant to be with,
you want to be there when he chooses..You.

Strength

There are times when we are strong and feel weak. That weakness humbles us and gives us the power to see more clearly. Love can do the same for us. The power of love can humble us to see our own weaknesses and yet to feel strong because someone truly loves us no matter what.

I’m seeking love and hoping to see my weaknesses strengthen my resolve. When I’ve found love and it’s claimed me, the two of us will be strong indeed!
